Memento Mori
Creating A Regency Mourning Reticule
Online Workshop with Live Teacher
October 4, 2025
Instructor
Catherine Scholar

Join us to kick off the month of Halloween with a delightfully spooky workshop!

In this one-day seminar, students will make their own Regency era reticule in the 'circular' style that was popular from the 18th century through the Edwardian era. Whether you're seeking to create a memento mori accessory for an impression or to accentuate your daily Goth style, this little novelty is the perfect simple-sew treat.
The workshop begins with an overview of Regency era reticule styles & mourning customs, then moves on to the sewing portion with live on-camera demos.

The class includes a kit of materials, supply list and pdf handout. Students have their choice of select designs for the front and back medallions and are welcome to either machine or hand-sew their piece, though some hand-sewing is necessary.

Class kit includes:
-Three pieces of fabric (includes 2 center medallions)
-Cardboard forms
-Ribbon
-Thread
