




Join us for a journey through five couture gowns that span the lifetime of their former owner- exquisite pieces featuring high-level finish and sumptuous embellishments. In this one-day online workshop with a live teacher, students will view detailed photos of each gown, inside and out-

-Early 1880s beaded satin wedding gown
-Early 1880s Cut velvet reception gown with train
-1910s Striped velvet & charmeuse day dress
-1920s beaded chiffon party dress & slip
-1920s Hand-painted (gilt) chiffon party dress

Students will replicate several of the design elements from the garments in class, along with additional period embellishments through live instruction on-camera-

-Satin rosette (pattern & base provided)
-Two types of decorative pleated hems
-Fabric buckle (pattern, base & wire provided)​
-Three types of bow clusters
-Lanvin-style padded rose (buckram base provided)​​​

**The workshop includes a pdf handout, supply list, and a partial class kit (Rosette paper pattern, buckle paper pattern, buckram & tarlatan bases, wire)**​

Chantal is a chihuahua parent, professional costume designer and the Founder/Dean of Costume On.
​
As a professional costume designer/seamstress/milliner she has designed and constructed clothing and costumes for every type of media and project, from space suits for film to 19th century replicas for a museum. She has taught for Costume College, Costume On, Costumers Guild West, Grant Larson Productions, Genesee Country Village & Museum and others.
​
Her first garment was a pair of shorts made out of a towel, and they were absolutely terrible.
