Join instructor Chantal Filson for a live online millinery workshop recreating 3 versions of hair ornaments suitable for 1880-91.
Class begins with a review of 1880s-early 1890s period styles of hair ornaments for balls, then moves onto a workshop of creating one and additional demos of 3-5 different types with options of plumes, pompoms, ribbon, floral pieces and jeweled accents. Methods of incorporating hairpieces will also be demonstrated. Supply list will be provided in advance, teacher will demonstrate making each style on camera and assist students as they work along at home.
The course is geared towards a moderate beginner to intermediate skill level, but all levels of experience are welcome. Costume On is body-positive, beginner-friendly and a staunch supporter of inclusivity/bipoc/lgbtq/costuming for any gender.

Chantal is a chihuahua parent, professional costume designer and the Founder/Dean of Costume On.
A lifelong obsession with the 19th century has evolved into a desire to create this forum for education and period fashion, part of the larger plans for 1886. She hopes to begin hosting private events and classes in-person at 1886 in the near future (safety first).
